I have now decided on the Organic Maps app. Has everything I need, the only criticism might be the voice. It somehow reminds me of the beginnings of Blue&Me's synthetic speech generation in my Alfa 159. Since I only take the app with me as a precaution if Apple Maps is not usable in Utah, Nevada and Arizona due to a lack of network, I can live with that.
Generic maps are a good option for offline navigation. This is especially true when network access may be restricted. Although the sound may need some improvement. But it's nice that the audio serves as a useful backup when Apple Maps isn't available in remote areas.
